So this week we had our Music Ministries chapel. Which is basically where all the groups that went on tours (they tour parts of Europe, Africa, South America, America singing and playing) this summer show the school pictures of what they did and give us a little demo of what they would do at a concert. Anyways, one of the groups sang this song and it was really cool. The chorus said this, “I want to sit at your feet, Drink from the cup in your hands, Lay back against you and hear your heart beat. This Love is so deep. It’s overwhelming.”
At first that sounds so romantic, sweet, and beautiful. But then as I was singing, (I don’t know if it was me being over-analytical at the wrong time or God just revealing something to me) I thought about the line “drink from the cup in your hands”. And I wondered at the fact that the writer had put such a disconnected line in the song. It sounds like it fits until you think about one of the biggest times a cup in God’s (or Jesus’ really) hands was referenced. It was the night he was arrested.
So I was sitting there thinking about it and I kinda realized that the way to get intimate with God is to drink of every cup in His hands. Don’t pick and choose. Drink the bitter with the sweet. Otherwise, you are not ever going to truly be able to hear the heart in His chest beating.
Food For Thought,
‘Manias
Jesus said (to James and John, I think… or maybe their mother) “can you drink of the cup that I must drink of?” and they said, “Yes, we can” and Jesus said, “Indeed, you will drink of this cup…”
can you drink from this cup? … indeed, you will. Jesus said, “WHEN they hate you, remember that they hated Me first.”
food for thought back at you… you’re not the only one who can start up food fights! mmk?
Jake
I don’t want to be the only one who starts food fights…they are fun. Like I always tell people, making messes makes you a little kid (but cleaning them up makes you a big kid).
wow…deep

i love my roommate…….i throw banana peels at her
well, i don’t think banana peels would add the affect that we want. hehehe i love you my sister. and i love you bunches and bunches.
yeah… bible does say that, in more than one place apparently.. I remember it from 1 Samuel… or maybe it was 2 Samuel. “to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams”… and the fat was one of the holiest parts of the sacrifices. so it’s better to just obey God than to say you’re sorry, and it’s better to listen, than even to try to ‘honor’ Him with a holy sacrifice. But so many times, we as Christians want to hear what God has to say before we’re willing to say yes… but why would God tell us what He want’s us to do, only so that we can think on it a while and decide whether it fits our schedule or lifestyle? Just say yes! Just hearken! Just obey. I get sick of saying I’m sorry… and I’ll bet God feels the same way… maybe not to the degree that we do (I do) but I would get tired of hearing sorry this, sorry that, and not seeing change… it’s time for application, and less talking all about it. more living it instead of thinking it… either Proverbs 31, or Song of Songs 8 said that the Woman who fears The Lord doesn’t eat of the bread of idleness. take action. God, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all about going and doing. Eph. 5:1 “be ye imitators of God therefore, as dear children”
Yeah, said enough there! well, it’s been a while since you’ve commented. I feel something warm and kinda fuzzy… this could be love… or maybe, it’s just really good coffee!
