I just wanted to stop by and brag for a moment…*smile*…bear with me.
Two days ago, I was sitting in my Oral Communications class (a speech class) and my teacher brought up the verse that says “there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs17:17). He used it in reference to the fact that sometimes when you are dealing with your family you only love them out of necessity…because that is what you are supposed to do as a family member. But then there are the friends who are closer to you than your brothers…this made me smile. The reason why is because I have wonderful relationships with my sisters and my brothers, and so the general rule is that even my closest friends know no more than my sisters (especially being that my VERY closest friends are my sisters and my mom). Then it hit me…that verse has always been so hard for me to wrap my mind around and has meant so much more to me than it may have to my peers because I have such a great relationship with my sisters and my mom. Imagining Someone who is closer than that almost feels impossible because they know pretty much everything about me, or at least everything I know to say. It almost feels as though we would have to stop talking about only knowing and begin to reach into the actual physical closeness for that to be true, especially now that most of my time is spent away from home that makes a huge difference.
*deep sigh*
So here’s to my sisters and my mom, who make Bible teaching all that more meaningful.
And here’s to the Father, Who makes all things possible. And Who sticks with me (AND MY SISTERS) when it is not possible for us to be together and Who knows even what I don’t know what to put into words.
I LOVE YOU GUYS,
Ashley Erin AMANIA RUTH
P.S. No, I didn’t mention my brothers as much, and though I am close to them I’m not as close as I am with my sisters because of the age difference and the lack of ability to spend time with them in this critical hour of their growth. I LOVE YOU GUYS TOO, and I wish I that could be there with you as you grow and mature into the amazing men that you are becoming. Remember that all you have to do is pick up the phone and I’m there…and if I’m not I will not be afraid to call at 12 midnight (on a weekend of course mom) to talk with you. And no, daddy, I didn’t forget you. I love you too…and I can’t believe that you are doing all that you are. You are amazing and resilient…and I don’t know how you made it this far…someday I hope to overcome as you have.
P.S.S. Thank you for bearing with me as I “bragged” on my family…they are pretty amazing people, and if you don’t know them…you should get to know them.
MYY SISTER!!!!
i love you too. (those words are full)

yeah well good for you. ! cya round.
Being an only child (as evidenced by clumsily trying to share a bathroom with you all) you guys so far are one of the best examples of how to successfully function as a big family. You’re all as awesome as Ashman brags — I hope I’ll be able to make my way over again sometime.

I think that is great and wonderful!! good for you Ashley! =)
I think that verse also means that a friend sticks with you through bad times even though they are not family and are not obligated to love you. So to me it is saying it means much more for a friend to stick with you because they are not obligated by blood relation. Kind of how you are to me =) Anyway, thats just my two cents.
okay i love you!
Love you Amania! and I wish you could be closer geographically now as Esther plans to move tomorrow… I will be the only girl left.
and this means i have to actually pick up the phone and talk to you guys. Maybe God is saying i need to communicate better. :-p

Thinking of you. 🙂
This was worth the read. I must say that I read it about three days after it was written AND because Hannah was on the comp reading it. In any case, yes, it’s true. We rock socks. heh ;] I guess all those years of living in a two bedroom trailer really did the trick. Any Takers On That??
Just as a side note, Esther told me the other day that Gramma said she’d like to offer (tongue in cheek) that Hannah come live with them as well if Esther would be willing to share her bed. LOL!
When are we girls gonna take our first world travel trip together and WHERE would we like to go?? All answers must be emailed to the four of us due to the fact that I RARELY get on xanga anymore. I was even considering closing my account yesterday or today but then remembered that I’d never be able to comment on your sites anymore and that’s poopy so… =)
