A piece that I started while sitting in the Coffee Scene listening to others read their poetry….but finished when I woke up this morning:
Offering
My heart…
empty or full…
is offered here in there open palms
After you take this gift
there is nothing greater I can give
The rest…
stained or tainted…
was not guarded as well as it should have been
My efforts to regain them
completely useless in the eyes of all
And yet You…
perfect and beautiful…
You still want all I have to offer
No condition placed
on the form that I must come in
So my all…
broken and torn…
I offer to You, leaving nothing behind
Oh, and as a side note, I would just like to add…it is so curious how my poetry grows. This poem was intended to be an early love poem and yet, you can see it is not quite that. Which, might I add, is not a bad thing…just something interesting to think about.

this is love…. “there’s no greater love than a man lay down his life for his friends”… your whole poem is about that… there’s no greater love… most people think of love as being how much we feel or do something… but THIS is love.. this is love right here. that we lay down our lives for our friend, who sticks closer than a brother… “this is love, that You would die for me” ~ Cool Hand Luke

*smile* nice. My favorite of yours was written about 6 months ago. You left it untitled I think.

To my Ashadee,
I started to like look at it critically, to offer my 2-cents. But ya know what? It stands alone, all by itself, nothing needed be added or deleted. You continually amaze me as you surpass your mom and me, I am challenged to do, so I am not left behind.
(As to the poem) Oh, the depth and the riches both of the wisdom knowledge of men…May you grow in the knowledge of the one to whom I believe this poem has come to be directed, first; then may the rest fall into place.
Love you,
Daddy
Good stuff. Looking forward to see you in a month! Enjoy the rest of your summer! 🙂
