Anyway
Bless the day this restoration is complete
Dirty Dusty something must be underneath
So I scrap and I scuff
Though it’s never quite enough
I am starting to see me finally
The gallery of paintings new and paintings old
I guess it’s no surprise that I’m no Michelangelo
Every layer of mine hides a lovely design
It might take a little patience
It might take a little time
But You called me Beautiful
When You saw my shame
And You placed me on the Wall
Anyway
You who have begun this work will someday dee
A portrait of the holiness You meant for me
So I polish and shine ’til it’s easier to find
Even an outline of mine
But You called me Beautiful
When You saw my shame
And You placed me on the Wall
Anyway
And You placed me on the Wall
Anyways

It was while listening to this song that I felt God speak to me in one of the realest ways I’ve ever felt it. And because of that moment I was never truly able to disregard that there was a God…though there were times I really wanted to.

Sweetie,
Sometimes I find it incredible that the God of all creation made me YOUR dad, and not just you but all of your sibs too, but right now, since I am addressing this to you…Wow, you really do blow me away. I love you and it is an awesome thing to see you walking this out so transparently. As I was reading this, initially, I thought that it might be your words, but when I saw them to be another’s, it struck me that it would not have been so unusual if they had been yours. More important, you found the way to express yourself so beautifully using someone else’s voice (but I read it hearing yours 🙂 ).
Love you, bunches and bunches,
On the Wall,
Daddy

P.S. No Me!
P.P.S. I’m really glad we talked this week, I miss you.
Wow, can Nicole come up with some STUFF or what! These are some good words for a certain young man that I’ve had cross my mind time and again as of late. He is looking to belong to something real; something that he’s not yet sure of. Something he’s heard of for many years… even sung of, but not yet believed for himself. You know of whom I’m speaking. I do hope he reads this post of yours… for his sake. THIS is what real love sounds like. =)
