Ramblings

    Tulsa, Oklahoma is frozen again.  It’s beautiful.  I feel very cozy sitting inside looking out of my big dorm  window with a large mug of coffee.

     You know, it’s funny, but I’ve been realizing that these are the moments when God is waiting to see what  you are going to do.  I know that sounds odd but I realized this last night.  And it’s almost like God slows life down and “makes you lie down in green pastures.”  There you can do one of two things, either lay down and enjoy the fellowship with Him or you can get stir crazy and try to run away.  *shrugs her shoulders*  I don’t really have much else to say besides the fact that you guys should take advantage of the times that seem confining to just bask in His presence.  Don’t always feel like you need to be busy…

Funny, I was just re-listening to a sermon by Tim Elmore last night.  It was a sermon that impacted my heart my freshman year.  He spoke about the opposition of Competence versus Communion.  God is seeking after those who will seek communion with Him and not those who are driven by accomplishments.  (This however doesn’t mean that you don’t need to do things, because he also made this point: your overwhelming love for the Father will motivate you to not only do what  you have to but to go above and beyond what is required.)  Anyways the key of his message was the song that Teva sings to his wife in the Fiddler on the Roof, “Do you love me?” To which she answers, “All these 25 years I’ve washed your clothes,  made your meals, darned your socks…” And he restates, “No, do you love me?”  And the speaker pointed out that the Father is singing the same thing to us, “Do you love me?”  That was the part of the sermon that rocked my world.  
    When I came back to my room and was writing in my journal I kinda lamented over how unproductive my day was…and looked at the next day (today) with slight fear that I would sadden the Father by wasting His time.  However, I  knew that  I didn’t have much to do after spending many days in my room cleaning and organizing.  Which meant that if I was to be “locked” in my room  for one more day then I would have nothing much to do.  Then it hit me this morning that Father had tucked me away quietly so that I could just sit with Him and spend time  thinking about Him…which in turn makes me love Him more which in turn makes me want to obey Him more which in turn proves that I love Him.  Amazing isn’t it?
